With over a decade of hospitality experience, Dispense Espresso’s owner Hamish Bell knows a thing or two about what makes a café great. Earning the support of an ever growing loyal group of regulars who visit for caffeination, feeding, chinwags and yarns. Customers leave happy knowing their daily caffeine prescription has been well and truly dispensed.
This hidden gem is tucked away in the commercial hub in the suburb of Ferrymead. Hamish and his team have created a space which offers delicious coffee, fresh sandwiches (using Vic’s Bakehouse artesian bread) and filled with top-quality produce from local suppliers like Canterbury Cheesemongers and Peter Timbs Meat. You’ll also discover a fine selection of freshly baked goods; scones, muffins, cakes and slices that are all made on site. The seasonal preserves and dressings are made from scratch in-house too. This place is all about making simple food, made honestly.
Not satisfied there, Dispense has recently delved into buying and roasting their own coffee beans under the banner of Decent Coffee. Currently roasting at the co-op space Markus and Maria Hirne have established at Viking Coffee. So with the smell of their own coffee beans in the air and a scone in hand, it’s hard to resist this café’s charm.
