Gap Filler Dance-O-Mat

Mon - Sun 8.00am - 10.00pm

265 Gloucester St

If it’s a good enough dance floor for old Prince Charles and Camilla then it’s good enough for you too. Perhaps one of Gap Filler’s best known gap-filling projects, the Dance-o-Mat is a dance floor like no other. Reflecting the ever-changing nature of the Christchurch CBD, the Dance-o-Mat is a moveable dance floor that can be found on Gloucester Street.

Pop a $2 coin into an old Laundromat washing machine, plug in any device with a headphone jack or use Bluetooth to connect, and dance along to your favourite beats.  It'll get you a full 30 minutes of lighting and sound. Be sure to check the blackboard booking system before hitting the d-floor – you never know, you might be overrun by a whole group of line dancers! Best of all, at this outdoor dance destination, you can show off your best moves rain, hail or shine.

Popular with dancers young and old, experienced and inexperienced, solo or part of a group, anything goes at the Dance-o-Mat, whether it is break dancing or rock ‘n’ roll, the Gay Gordon or something a bit more interpretative. You’ll hear it before you see it.
