The Little High Eatery is a much loved international food market and a Christchurch institution. It opened its doors in 2017, and back then, the exciting development breathed new life into the rebuild of the Garden City. Little High quickly became a bit of a symbol of what our city could become once more. Now, years later, with much of the central city back in action, the eatery is still as thriving as ever. Plus, seven of the original eight tenants are still here, which says a lot about how well this special dining hall does things.

Open seven days a week from lunch til late, this hub of international edibles only closes its doors twice a year. Convenience is a major attraction, of course, and there is no need for a booking – the food hall and courtyard can accommodate hundreds of people. That being said if you’d wish to book a spot for a bigger group, that can easily be arranged. The restaurants work through their orders as swiftly as they possibly can, so even if you need to refuel on the run, there will be a spot that can look after you over here.

The international offerings and worldly vibe of Little High are intriguing and exciting. There is something here to tickle everyone’s fancy, be it the trickiest toddler, the fanciest foodie or a bunch of people with various dietary requirements. On top of the huge variety of international dishes waiting to be sampled at Little High, the food hall offers over 200 different craft beer options, with each restaurant dedicated to its own offerings.

Different zones offer various spots to settle down to enjoy your kai, and when it comes to that aforementioned choice, you’ll be absolutely spoiled. The restaurants you will find under this one roof are: El Fogon Argentinian grill, Caribe Latin Kitchen, Noodlemonk Thai, Bacon Brothers, BASE Woodfired Pizza, Eightgrains, Sushi Soldier, Boom Boom Chicken and Paleta Gelateria. Oh, and did we mention that all of the above restaurants are family run businesses, most of which began their journey as food trucks. How cool is that?

Walking through Little High and taking in the various smells, the buzz, and the sounds of the food hall is a must-do experience when in town. During the colder months, it’s a fabulously warm and enticing spot to snuggle up with quality grub and fun vibes; and in the summer, the huge courtyard entices for outdoor dining and drinks. At times, there is live music, buskers and various entertainment happening here too. Plus, there’s even a bunch of arcade games to keep you and yours occupied.
