Knead’s sell-out specialty donuts are the talk of the town in New Plymouth for very good reason.  Disclaimer: you’ll be raving about them too once you’ve sampled these generously-sized, hand-rolled, sugar-coated (but not too sweet), deep-fried squashy spheres of pure joy.

Owner, Erin, was born and bred in New Plymouth, and began her baking career as a teenager working in a local bakery before school. Fast forward a decade, and Knead has its very own suburban café (complete with a commercial kitchen) serving freshly baked donuts and Proof and Stock coffee. The light and bright space heroes their signature donuts that proudly line up neatly in the glass cabinet. Open three days a week, Knead is designed for takeaways, but there’s a handy bench out front if you can’t wait to devour yours straight from the box.

Knead’s fast-growing reputation for drool-worthy morsels has seen the humble whanau business go from strength to strength and we couldn’t be happier.

Flavours rotate fortnightly affording every visit an element of surprise, and the super friendly staff are on hand to lend some expert guidance as well as encouragement to order your tōnati (donut) in te reo. Whether you’re a classic ring aficionado, a lover of a ganache smothered donut or prefer yours filled to the brim with cream or custard, there’ll be something to pique your tastebuds at Knead Artisan Donuts. Hot tip: get in early to avoid mega disappointment.
