Fiksate provides an unexpected hotspot for Christchurch’s love of urban art. The space is inviting and relaxed with pieces of art on display in the reach of a variety of budgets, ensuring an accessibility that echoes the popular nature of art in the streets.
Showcasing urban contemporary art, works created by artists either with backgrounds in, or influenced by graffiti and street art. The stylistic diversity of this is field is matched by the variety of material approaches; anything from paintings and prints to photographs, hand drawn images and mixed media works. Exhibitions here run for a month at a time, with a continuous rotation of solo and group shows, and gallery inventory, spanning local, national and international artists. There is a balance of works by young emerging artists and established big names that will wow the socks off you.
This gallery is run by a group of artists who share the collaborative work space at the back of the light filled space. On top of dealing art works, Fiksate offers a framing service and the group of creatives that call it home can also produce murals and work by commission.
