A café by day, an a la carte restaurant by night, La Luna Eatery & Bar located in the heart of Rangiora, carries out each of its roles effortlessly. This is a place where every detail has been thought through. The inviting interiors are fresh and breathe a sense of a modern European establishment. The restricted colour palette of forest green and vintage rose, light wood furniture, brass piping and dried floral arrangements all result in an approachable, chic atmosphere.

Expect to find a cabinet filled to the brim with homemade goodness, with plenty of choices for various dietary needs. Brunch and lunch menus offer more substantial fare during daylight hours, and on the drinks side, you’ll find your usual non- and caffeinated options along with some outrageously delicious milkshakes. Plenty of regulars find their way to La Luna for a morning coffee and catch up, and the nearby office workers stop in for a take-out coffee or perhaps a lunch meeting.

In the evenings, the space transforms into a more formal restaurant, though service is still friendly and casual. The dinner menu consists of entrees, sides and mains, with a separate kids menu for the littlies you might have in tow. The wine menu is extensive and focuses on quality local wines, with a few overseas exceptions.

The owner of La Luna is an experienced, passionate chef who strives to deliver the best for his customers, whether he’s plating up an eggs benny or a duck confit. He designs the seasonally changing menus with local kiwi food in mind, adding a touch of European or Asian infusion depending on what he feels like experimenting with. That being said, the menu always offers some classic dishes made well, along with a few more surprising additions.

Whether you visit this wonderful spot during the day or in the evening, expect dishes that look as good as they taste and a welcoming ambience.
