Peaches, 4/384 Worcester St, Christchurch Central City, Christchurch

On a sunny, north-facing corner in Linwood Village, Peaches is a welcome new addition to the neighbourhood. Opened in May 2025 by Tessa Peach, the mind behind Frances Nation at The Arts Centre, the café brings together her background in hospitality and spatial design to create something warm, inviting and built with care. When Tessa came across the empty site, she saw its potential immediately. Linwood was missing a local café, and Peaches fills that gap beautifully, adding to the growing buzz in the area.

As with all of Tessa’s spaces, the design is thoughtful and detailed. From the cork walls to the soft curves of the furniture, every element has been meticulously selected with longevity in mind. It’s a space that feels simple and comfortable but with timeless touches that give it a unique personality. Nothing here is throwaway or overly trend-led, the colours, materials and layout feel like they’ll still be just as interesting tomorrow as they are today.

The food and drink offering leans on quality local favourites. Prima coffee is the bean of choice, with barista Elizabeth making sure every cup is spot on. The cabinet features sandwiches made fresh on site using bread from a mix of beloved nearby bakeries, with classic fillings like egg mayo or herby chicken, alongside seasonal salads. For a little luxurious treat, there are Bellbird Bakery pastries, as well as indulgent cookies (exclusive to Peaches!) and Parisian-inspired sweets from Ōtautahi pâtisserie BUTTER. There’s also a tidy shelf of pantry items from Aotearoa artisan producers; bags of Prima coffee, Bones chilli peanut oil and North Canterbury honeycomb.

Inclusive, vibrant and here for the long run, Peaches has quickly become a neighbourhood anchor helping shape the next chapter of Linwood Village. Come for a midweek lunch break or spend a blissful weekend morning sipping coffee in the sun.
