Ramen Ria has all of the flavour and fun that can be found in some of Tokyo’s most well known, yet tucked away ramen joints. Located in the heart of Christchurch at Riverside Market, Ramen Ria features hot brothy bowls and all of the accoutrements, like Asahi beer towers, that make for a great ramen spot.
The menu boasts plenty of ramen options but the most popular includes the Pork Trio a tonkotsu ramen served with crispy pork belly, thinly sliced pork belly, streaky maple bacon and soft boiled soy egg. Ramen Ria’s chicken ramen is warm and comforting with a rich chicken soup, pulled chicken, water chestnut, chicken meatballs, truffle oil and shiitake mushrooms. The Beef Deluxe features beef bone broth, braised brisket, charred short ribs, sour cabbage and spring onion. There are also plenty of vegan ramen options, too. Whatever bowl you choose you’re in for a hunger defeating and soul soothing meal.
Whether you’re after a takeaway lunch, a social dinner with friends or have a late night craving that can’t go unanswered, Ramen Ria’s neon signs will be a welcome sight. The team’s quick and friendly service make it an enjoyable place to dine regardless of time of day, and the menu’s other offerings like dim sum platters, bao buns and bento boxes ensure that there’s something for everyone. Enjoy your meal in the intimate dining area, at the outdoor tables or on the go.
If you’re in for the full ramen bar experience order a glass of bubbly, beer, wine or sake from Ramen Ria’s extensive drinks list. A steaming bowl of ramen paired with a cold drink is a combination that’s hard to beat and Ramen Ria has perfected the combo.
Once you’re finished, head across the laneway to Gelato and Tea, Ramen Ria’s sister shop. Their homemade gelato and bubble tea top any savoury ramen meal off with a sweet finish.
