Gothenburg is set on a large patio overlooking the beautiful Waikato River that runs through the heart of Hamilton - the perfect spot to enjoy a sunny afternoon. The interior is dramatic, with large windows making the most of the panoramic view. The café and restaurant showcases locally grown, organic produce and specialises in tapas that are a mix of New Zealand and international flavours. Come along for a casual drink, a relaxing coffee or a special meal in a unique, beautiful location. Their plates are designed to be shared, so order a few and enjoy the variety.

Inspired by the amazing food and service they had experienced around the world in their travels, Gothenburg first opened on Hood Street in 2009 then moved to a new location next to the river, to make the most of the beautiful scenery of the Waikato.

Gothenburg’s menu is large and diverse, and you may find yourself overwhelmed by the amazing range of dishes - don’t fear! The team is always happy to put together a selection of their suggestions for the table. They cater to all sorts of dietary requirements, offering a range of vegetarian, vegan, gluten and dairy-free dishes. Escape the city, come to the riverside and enjoy the best of Waikato cuisine.
