Levin’s Lewis Farms is a place where generations of family care and innovation meet in a beautifully relaxed rural setting. What began as an honesty box on the roadside selling bunches of asparagus has evolved into a vibrant, family-run destination that celebrates the land, the seasons, and the community that gathers around both.
Easily accessible off SH1 in Levin, the packhouse shop is warm and inviting, with rustic timber details, open-air seating, and plenty of space for families to spread out and enjoy the day. Every corner of the space carries the easy rhythm of rural New Zealand: kids laughing on the playground, locals catching up over real fruit ice creams, and visitors perusing the heritage display that tells the story of the Lewis family’s four generations of farming in Horowhenua.
You’ll find the best of Lewis Farm’s bounty in its packhouse shop. Lewis Farms is home to the beloved Tendertips Asparagus brand, a Kiwi favourite for over 40 years, and also produces premium strawberries and raspberries using sustainable hydroponic methods that extend the growing season and care for the environment. The hydroponic system recaptures water and preserves the soil, making each punnet of berries a small triumph of innovation and sustainability.
Alongside fresh produce, the shelves here are lined with handcrafted jams made in small batches on-site, rich with flavour and free from anything artificial. And of course, the real berry ice creams and chocolate-dipped strawberries are just the thing to sweeten your day even more.
Simply put, Lewis Farms captures the best of rural New Zealand: heritage, innovation, and heart coming together to create something honest, delicious, and deeply rooted in place.
