Set along Queenstown’s picturesque lakefront, Artbay is an award-winning gallery housed in a historic cottage. Since its establishment in 2004, the gallery has showcased a vibrant and ever-changing collection of contemporary works by local and international artists. The mix of bold colours, abstract subjects and mesmerising brushstrokes stand out against the exposed schist stone walls, creating a uniquely immersive art experience.

The Artbay brand has grown over the years, with two new establishments introduced in recently. Conveniently, all three galleries are situated along the same street – providing the perfect opportunity to enjoy an art hop while taking in the beautiful landscape. In 2020, Marine Parade lit up with the arrival of Lightworx Gallery, a modern and contemporary space showcasing avant-garde light art. These interactive and innovative installations have been designed by leading New Zealand artists, combining light, colour and space to uplift and wow audiences.

Rounding out the trio is VIRUT Gallery, the newest addition, which launched in the winter of 2024. This space is dedicated to the work of VIRUT, an internationally renowned artist who has caused waves in the contemporary art scene for his unconventional approach to portraiture.

Artbay, Lightworx and VIRUT are all open daily and offer a chance for visitors to marvel at stunning masterpieces or enquire about current works available for purchase, for those looking to enrich their walls at home. Founded on a vision to make art exciting, interesting, and accessible, Artbay continues to welcome all art lovers into their friendly and inspiring spaces.
