Calling an old petrol station home, Okere Falls Store is a delicious combination of old meets new where those who like a bit of nostalgia with their lunch will not be disappointed.
Making waves with their unwavering approach to sustainability, don’t expect to find any Coca-Cola, plastic straws or single-use plastic bags here. The Okere Falls Store team are big on walking the walk when it comes to giving our environment a helping hand. Instead, try something from the Good Buzz, Almighty Juice or Phoenix ranges if it’s a fizzy drink you’re after. ‘Boomerang cups’ are available here, an initiative where customers vying for the takeaway coffee option can switch out a compostable cup for a ceramic one of their choice, and simply return it next time they’re in store. There are gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options galore on the menu here — if you’re in for lunch, it’s hard to go past the Chilli Scramble or the Smoked Fish Toast, and paired with something tasty from the smoothie menu you’ll be good to hit the road again ASAP.
Supermarket feeling like a big mission to get to? This café and eatery also has key grocery items in store — pop in for your milk, butter, cheese, meat, canned goods and cleaning products. The garden bar out the back is a tucked away place to enjoy a cold one, and with plenty of big picnic tables to sit at and grounds to explore, Okere Falls Store is a neat option for those with small humans too. Try out the compostable loo out back for a toilet experience that ticks all the sustainability boxes.
Holiday-makers, commuters and those who just want a break from city life can all be found at this little oasis on State Highway 33, where if it’s beer, espresso, pies or those essential grocery items you’re after, this gem has you covered.
