Te Pā Tū in Rotorua is a celebration of Māori culture—history, traditions, aspirations, and, of course, kai (cuisine). A four-hour immersion begins with a welcome ceremony, then offers a revitalising kawakawa tonic and kai horotai (canapes) served amidst the forest pā.
Ancient stories and mesmerising performances of kapa haka are shared in the naturally formed amphitheatre before your procession to the wharekai, an elegantly themed dining room.
Depending on which time of year you visit Te Pā Tū embraces the season's bounty and explores stories relevant to the time of year. The Summer and Winter Celebrations at Te Pā Tū explores diversity and connection through te ao Māori values of kaitikitanga (guardianship/stewardship) and manaakitanga (honouring people). Executive chef Irihei Walker takes inspiration from the celebrations and weaves this into his thoughtful menu.
Evolving with the seasons, so no two visits will be alike— it is a cultural and culinary experience you will never forget.
