Working in partnership with his wife Fiona and drawing on their combined retail and design experience, Todd Hayvice set up Yoyo to showcase the creative talent of New Zealand designers in furniture, homeware and lighting.

Both Fiona and Todd have a strong belief in this country’s young design culture, with its focus on sustainability and the knack for getting the most out of our comparatively larger living spaces. Todd grew up in his father’s and grandfather’s Wellington showrooms before honing his trade overseas with David Jones and Ikea, so when it comes to the local scene you could say he’s part of the furniture.

Yoyo’s name is a nod to longevity of good design and their showroom along Thorndon Quay is something of a cosy little shrine to that. You might wistfully think that three-seater would almost fit in your sunroom but that’s okay, because working with local names like Profile or Joska & Sons, YOYO gives customers the final say by enabling them to customise purchases by size, colour or shade. Their philosophy is that living spaces should support their inhabitants’ lifestyle, which is why they’ll go out of their way to make it happen – no strings attached.
