We all need to unwind at the end of a long day - to find a minute for ourselves and allow our minds to relax. It’s a healthy approach to life in a world of technology and endless notifications, and mindfulness is more important than ever. Hoi (pronounced how it looks, ‘hoi’ is Swiss German for hello) is a Pilates studio in Miramar with a wholesome philosophy of laughter and light-heartedness in movement, giving you space to connect with your body and tune out the world for an hour.
Small class sizes, quality equipment and an inclusive environment come together in an approach to Pilates that is both encouraging and productive. Hoi is all about empowerment, a relaxed atmosphere that advocates curiosity and fearlessness, guiding students to make conscious movement decisions in a positive way. Owner Sasha says this is all part of her vision for making sure people “feel comfortable and like they can try stuff without being perfect” - there is no judgement here. “The goal is for people to leave feeling better and with more movement options than when they came in.”
Classes are limited to six people at most and all open level. Teachers are highly skilled and able to accommodate a range of abilities allowing for an individualised experience in a group setting, and with a range of class styles at different times throughout the day you can decide how and when you want to move. The studio itself is located within the old TAB building and has been completely renovated to create a bright, clean and inviting space; there are a multitude of plants and florals which bring with them a softer organic tone to the minimalist but warm interior.
Take in the beautiful framed artwork and playful window graphics as you catch your breath and pull on your shoes. Hoi Studio is a welcoming place where the environment comes second only to the focus on movement, perfect if you are looking for a new activity which complements your existing routine in a way that is mindful and benefits your physical health all at once. You’ll learn about your body, feel good about yourself and have a whole lot of fun, leaving you energised and ready to take on your next challenge and truly seize the day.
