Williams Eatery is one of the stalwart eateries of the centrally located Wynyard Quarter in Auckland. The well-lit, vibrant, yet calming space on the corner of Daldy Street is recognisable by its loyal fan base waiting for a table come weekend mornings.

Williams is owner-operated and works closely with head chef Arjay Soneja, serving contemporary, interesting dishes with influences from his home in the Philippines. There is a focus on showcasing locally sourced high-quality, organic and free range produce.

Their signature dish may be the market fish, but it is always changing.  An example, market fish served with squid ink adobo, black rice and tarragon - it really is umami 101. The scrambled eggs also have a bit of a cult following: simple things done well are what they’re all about.

Licensed, the drinks list is fiercely local, championing amazing New Zealand producers and suppliers. The wine is low intervention, the beer is cold, and the coffee is refined. And there are frequently collabs and pop ups with other local offerings - think Everyday Wines and Hallertau Brewery, to name just a few.

Opening back in 2018, the team at Williams has seen it all. Roadblocks, construction, indoor leaking and, of course, our old mate Covid-19. They are proud to have made it through to the other side and are really excited to keep growing as a business and developing their brand into the future.
To give us a taste of what we can look forward to, there are plans underway for a retail store and grocer which will house speciality goods, produce and homewares. There will also be a major focus on selling their specialty coffee beans, ground fresh to order. With hints at new merch, and possibly even a book, the team at Williams want to keep threading their way into Auckland culture, bringing people together - because put simply, it’s what they love to do.

Reservations are possible and definitely recommended for bigger groups, and all dogs are welcome.
