Christchurch’s uniquely captivating Adventure Park offers a serene escape for those seeking more than just thrills. Visitors don't need to be seasoned mountain bikers to enjoy this seemingly remote 358-hectare park, just a 15-minute drive from the city centre.

Among the towering pine forests and deep Cashmere valleys, you'll find stunning views, delicious café and bar offerings, and off-pedal activities. The park boasts some of the best mountain bike trails in the country, along with walking tracks that guests can climb and receive a free chairlift ride back down, Fairy Doors in the village (maps are provided for kids and parents to go hunting for them) and an adrenaline-pumping zipline tour.

Take the full tour of the park’s four zip lines (ranging from 400m to 1.1km long) and soar far above the treetops on the longest and highest ziplines in Aotearoa New Zealand. Feel the adrenaline rush as you fly down the wires, taking in the incredible panoramic views of Lyttelton, Diamond Harbour, the city centre, the Southern Alps and Lake Ellesmere, and the tiny riders navigating the forest and fire-cleared hillsides 150m below.

After exploring, or even before you start, relax on the cafe’s large, elevated deck and enjoy a Common Ground coffee, a Cassels and Sons Brewing Co beer or a wine from Giesen. The casual dining menu includes a variety of made-on-site items, excluding the pies, which are hard to resist.

Overlooking the children’s area, pump track and Mulchy (huge bike jumps), the deck is the ideal spot for parents to keep an eye on their kids. With its free, unlimited Wi-Fi, it also serves as a peaceful and scenic alternative to working or studying in a city café. The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, buzzing with locals and tourists alike. You know it’s good if the locals keep coming back.
