Vesuvio has been on the Christchurch hospitality scene for over 30 years and they have recently added a Tap Room to their Papanui Road venue. Exclusively focused on serving Garage Project beer, this is the place to head to if lagers, ales and IPAs are your drink of choice.
With the wine bar already established across the courtyard and a popular spot, the team at Vesuvio saw the opportunity to grow their offering. The Tap Room is exclusively focused on serving beer, which means the usual behind-the-bar assembly of bottles is dispensed with in favour of the strikingly spartan display of unmarked brushed steel taps. Partnering with beloved New Zealand beer brand Garage Project, there are always 12 of their beers on constant rotation.
The Tap Room has been purposefully designed to give a different vibe from Vesuvio’s wine bar and courtyard, the aesthetic is stark and slick, pairing well with the sharply curated beer list. The polished concrete look, walls, mood lighting and wooden seating add to the atmosphere, and it’s the perfect space for hosting larger groups. It’s a venue to keep in mind if you’re planning a beer-lover’s birthday or special celebration.
Connected by the courtyard to the other spaces of Vesuvio means you can still enjoy the live music they are known for. Not only that, but the same delicious food and drinks are
on offer at the Tap Room, beer pairs very well with the range of tapas they have on the menu.
Next time you are planning an afternoon or night out, make your way to the city end of Papanui Road and enjoy the Tap Room and everything else on offer at Vesuvio.
