For hearty, authentic Chinese food, head straight to Dumpling House, a wholesome eatery serving up friendly vibes and even better dumplings. After operating for 12 years and opening two venues, this family-run establishment has truly made its mark on the Hamilton food scene.

Owner Lei Wang comes from a long line of dumpling makers—her great grandfather even made dumplings for the Chinese Royal family! And lucky for Hamilton locals, she and her mum found roots in New Zealand, bringing generations of secret techniques and flavours to their restaurants on Grey Street and Bryce Street.

It’s hard not to feel at home when you step into Dumpling House. Lei Wang sums it up perfectly when she says “over the years, customers have become regulars and regulars have become friends.” It goes without saying that food made with a whole lot of passion and love is what you’ll find here.

On that note, where do we even start with the menu? Trust us, you’ll want to bring the whole crew because a trip to Dumpling House is definitely a sharing affair. Everything is made with top-notch ingredients, mouth-watering flavour bombs and what’s more, you get serious bang for your buck.

Signature dishes include the crispy pan-fried dumplings, stuffed with the likes of pork and cabbage, chicken and chives or beef and onion. You’ll also want to round out the feast with the spring onion pancake, pan-fried pork bun and steamed pork and prawn dumplings with secret spicy sauce (drool).

And if that’s not enough, rumour has it they serve the best wonton soup in Hamilton, as well as some pretty moreish sweet and sour pork. Ready to make good on your dumpling craving? Make tracks to Dumpling House asap.
