Brought to you by Lisa and Brent Quarrie of Hayes Common, Weave Eatery is a café and catering business providing a central meeting space for the growing community at Waikato Innovation Park in Hamilton. Lovingly dubbed as Hayes Common’s corporate little sister, Weave Eatery may be a little more polished but it is still relaxed, textural, and most importantly, serves delicious food.
Weave is aptly named, embracing the concept of bringing people and businesses together at a central point to connect, share ideas and mingle. The interior reflects this—there's a range of different seating options, woven textures are celebrated throughout and the colour scheme cleverly weaves together calming earthy tones and pops of colour, reflecting the personality of the business. We suggest a trip to the bathroom before leaving: the archway en route is a captivating and stunning interpretation of a woven motif.
As if the smell of fresh coffee and baked goods isn’t already enticing, the all-day menu in a kitchen headed by Ashley Brodie is reason enough to visit. It’s hard to go past Ash’s Chilli Scram, a dish that has accumulated a loyal following, but every dish featured is fresh, punchy and colourful. The goal is to highlight the region's producers and use sustainable practices, both in terms of the environment and the local economy.
The foundations of Weave were laid back in 2020, and although Lisa and Brent were a little apprehensive about how the pandemic would affect the hospitality industry, they were cautiously optimistic about the opportunity Weave could provide. When the Government announced Hamilton would enter its reopening phase, a whirlwind turnaround (of two days!) saw the café source most of its inventory to open in time with the rest of the city. Weave is now well settled in its groove, and in a city often overlooked as a foodie destination, Weave Eatery is yet another noteworthy spot in Hamilton’s dining scene.
