New to the scene in 2021, Sentinel Café makes trekking to work in Hamilton’s CBD a little bit better. Offering an expertly crafted menu, calming decor and even executive meeting rooms for hire, it’s the ideal place for a catch-up with colleagues.

The interior styling alone is everything you’d want from your weekday coffee spot. Bright open spaces are complemented by cooling hues across the tiling and feature walls, while warm timber accents, lush greenery and rattan chairs make this Hamilton café an inviting destination to order up a treat and smash through those emails.

Father and daughter founders, Al and Micah, set the tone for a trip to Sentinel Café. You’ll find friendly front of house staff and expert chefs ready to make your meal one to remember.

Speaking of coffee, they make a damn good cuppa with beans from fellow Hamiltonians Grey Roasting Co. We hear a brew goes rather well with their ever-popular cinnamon rolls. But if you’re after a different kind of sip, choose from a range of fresh smoothies, probiotic shots or refreshing apple cider vinegar sodas.

As for the delicious menu, our advice is to come hungry. Breakfast punters will be pleased with the solid line-up of classics, like Belgian waffles and the good old eggs bene. For something a bit different, you’ll see more global flavours in the Spanish omelette or the French-inspired croque-madame toastie.

Meanwhile, lunch is all about the epic selection of Sentinel bowls. Whether you’re gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free or keto, there’s an option for everyone. Protein choices range from smoked salmon, crispy tofu and prime beef, while the rest is packed out with mouth-watering seasonal veg like roast squash, avocado, zucchini and much more. And we haven’t even mentioned the crunchy toppings and sauces! Turns out foodie heaven does exist.
