Searching for a spot where your goals of health and wellness can be achieved without sacrificing flavour and taste? Soul Boul in Hamilton East’s Made is this place where community, quality ingredients, coffee, kai and connection are at the heart of everything they do.

The origin story of Soul Boul begins back in 2017 when good friends Stacey and Alex had completed their university studies and were looking to do something a little different to the average post-grad job. After a lot of brainstorming and looking to leverage their hospitality backgrounds, they opened New Zealand’s first smoothie bowl food truck. Fast forward to 2021 and their first physical cafe location in Mount Maunganui opened, with this second location in Hamilton opening in October 2023.

The fit-out of the Made location was designed by local company Design Well and seamlessly integrates into the bustling urban precinct that brings together retailers, food outlets, artisans and creators. The team at Karma Construction are friends of Stacey and Alex’s and built out the structure in Mount Maunganui and while there were a few nerves during the trip over the Kaimais for the installation, it all worked out perfectly. The corner they occupy in the Made Market radiates sunshine and happiness; from the signature Soul Boul green tiles of the counter to large windows that welcome in the natural light to the friendly faces waiting to greet you.

Soul Boul is famous in the Mount for their smoothie bowls and acai bowls, and now Hamilton East locals (and visitors) get to see what all the fuss is about. Whether you prefer rich peanut buttery goodness or fresh fruity flavours, there’s a boul with your name on it. If you have a hankering for something savoury then you’re in luck as Soul Boul might just do the best Avo on Sourdough around. Think locally brewed sourdough, pickled onions, cherry toms, feta, lemon and chilli…om nom nom is the only way to describe it! Allpress is the coffee bean of choice at Soul Boul, but if you want to deviate from your classic oat flat white, give one of their alternative lattes a whirl.

In and amongst the hustle and bustle of Made, Soul Boul is a virtuous oasis where wholesome, nutritious and, most importantly, delicious kai awaits you. Slow down, connect with your lunch date and embrace the good vibes surrounding you.
