Tucked away in one of Hamilton’s quiet laneways, Cothu is somewhere where wellness feels personal. The name, pronounced Co:Hu, means “sustenance” in Gaelic, a nod to founder Moira Dunn’s heritage and a tribute to her daughter, Niamh, who inspired the journey. Step inside and you’re met with a warm, open reception in soft greens and pinks, the air subtly scented, the atmosphere instantly calming. It’s the kind of space where your shoulders drop without you even realising.

Moira’s path to creating Cothu is as organic as the award-winning bone broth she lovingly makes in her registered kitchen. A Functional Nutritionist with a passion for lymphatic health, she began her career working alongside a naturopath for three years, absorbing knowledge and honing her skills. Over time, Moira’s knowledge, skill base and team have continued to grow.

Cothu’s offerings are as diverse as they are intentional. Specialising in lymphatic massage (one of the first and only clinics in Hamilton to do so), they also provide body shape massage, red light therapy, nutrition services, and a curated range of wellness products, from castor oil packs to electrolytes. Their organic bone broth is a standout, a bestseller that began at the local farmers market and has since become a staple for clients seeking nourishment from the inside out. Cothu extends its reach through online e-books and immersive wellness retreats.

But Cothu is about more than treatments and products: it’s a philosophy. Moira and her team are constantly upskilling, even travelling overseas for training, ensuring they remain at the forefront of their field. Their vision is to grow into a true wellness hub, a place where specialists collaborate, knowledge is shared, and women-led businesses are supported. They aim to be recognised across New Zealand as the lymphatic specialists, but more importantly, they want to be a trusted partner in all their clients’ health journeys.

In a world where so many work jobs they don’t love, Cothu stands as a reminder of what passion looks like in practice. For Moira, this is a lifestyle, one she embodies both inside and out. Every client who walks through the door is met with genuine care, expertise, and the belief that wellness is not a luxury, but a form of sustenance, just as the name Cothu promises.
