Paraparaumu 5032

Just 45 minutes from central Wellington, perched high atop the hills behind Paraparaumu, you’ll find Falcon Ridge - a classy, cosy getaway that immerses you in the heart of the Kāpiti Coast’s natural beauty.

A brisk walk up a steep hill greets you upon arriving at Falcon Ridge, and it’s not long before the stunning panoramic views take your breath away. Cast your eyes between Kāpiti Island and the tip of the South Island, to the Tararua Ranges and, occasionally, Mount Taranaki and Mount Ruapehu. The sleek black cabin emanates a Japanese-inspired vibe, from the minimalist black and tan fitout to the yakisugi cladding outside. It’s sophisticated yet simple, lending the place the perfect environment in which to unwind and relax.

Relaxation is definitely top of the agenda on any visit to Falcon Ridge - the outdoor bathtub is evidence of that. Kick back and watch the sun set over the Kāpiti Coast, and if you’re feeling peckish, whip up a feast in the lean-to just by the cabin, which features a sheltered barbecue space. There’s plenty to keep you occupied around the cabin - outdoor darts, cards, yoga mats - and if you feel like giving your legs a proper stretch, there’s a beautiful walking track behind the cabin that takes you through an ancient stand of Macrocarpa trees.

A visit to Falcon Ridge will make you at one with nature in more ways than one. As part of a long-term eco-tourism project, proceeds from your stay go towards the regeneration of the native forest throughout the property. So kick back and soak in the views, with the reassurance that you’re leaving a positive impact on the very site you’re sleeping on.
