Road trips have a habit of blurring together - the same service stations, the same quick coffee stops, the same rush to get somewhere else. MOOMAA, a welcome oasis on SH1 in Marton, offers something a little different, where lingering is part of the appeal.

A cafe and chic design store all in one, MOOMAA combines rural hospitality with a sharp eye for interiors. Created by owner and qualified interior designer Emma Shannon, the space reflects her contemporary yet timeless aesthetic, with carefully chosen furnishings, artwork, homewares, and decor woven seamlessly into the charming rustic environment. In winter, the fire draws people in for long lunches and second coffees, while warmer days spill out into the outdoor dining area overlooking the surrounding rural landscape. Large windows and skylights flood the interior with natural light, giving the space an airy, relaxed feel that makes it easy to lose track of time.

The cafe menu is built around quality ingredients and crowd-pleasing favourites. Supreme coffee anchors the offering, alongside a cabinet packed with freshly made treats and an all-day menu that covers breakfast and lunch. Blackboard specials keep things interesting, while dietary requirements are well catered for with gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, and vegan options available. With the design store thoughtfully integrated into the cafe space, there’s plenty to browse as you wait for your food, from the beautiful ceramics on the weathered wooden shelves to the local photography and artwork on the walls.

MOOMAA is memorable in the way it brings together two worlds that rarely share the same roof. It’s a cafe worth seeking out for the food and coffee alone, but the addition of a beautifully curated design store transforms a simple stop into something far more rewarding. Whether you leave with a flat white, a new favourite homeware piece, or both, chances are you’ll already be planning your next visit.
