If you’ve eaten out in Wānaka, you’ve likely already tasted some of Pembroke Pâtisserie’s products. A well-established boutique patisserie, the much sought-after pastries are supplied to a handful of cafés and restaurants about town.

Formerly born out of a home-based kitchen, the pâtisserie has grown exponentially and now calls a space in Albert Town home. And the pastries aren’t the only things that look good here — the brand new purpose-built café combines exposed macrocarpa, moss green booth seating and gleaming white tiles, and the result is spectacular.

Loyal market suppliers for many years, owner/operator Kirsty Schmutsch says the aim of the new store is to keep the same sort of market set-up. However, she admits having a roof is a very handy aspect of owning a permanent space. The local support has so far been phenomenal, and the many biking trails around the Albert Town region mean there’s no shortage of thirsty cyclists who come in here for their coffee and lunch. There are hot pastries for your picnic and sweet pastries galore, and for those who like the finer things in life, there are artistically prepared macarons and tiny tarts.

While there may be limited coffee choices in Albert Town, there’s no shortage of quality, and Pembroke Pâtisserie sees plenty of caffeine lovers from the early morning right through to the finishing hour.
