Inside Tattoo in Wānaka is far from your average tattoo parlour.

Secretly nestled inside Spencer House, it’s a quirky space that’s intentionally tucked away to allow for a relaxed vibe and feels seemingly devoid of stress, time and everyday obligations. It’s a place to marvel at the artwork, ask questions and spark your curiosity.

Previously, artists Alex and Goldy were the owners of Holy Skin tattoo studio but decided to pivot and open Inside Tattoo in an effort to create a quieter space that would allow them to be sought out by those looking for the specific techniques they have to offer. Thanks to their unique styles and extensive global experience, Alex and Goldy have pulled punters and followers from around the world to this lakeside township.

Alex has been tattooing for 13 years, travelling and learning the unique art of tribal tattoo along the way. These learnings still influence his style today, along with blackwork and geometry. Goldy, on the other hand, is world-renowned for her hand-poked tattooing and is one of the cleanest hand-workers in the industry.

The team have also invested in great hygiene technology, which is paramount to them. So whether you're after your first tattoo or your fifteenth, you know you’re in good hands. The studio operates mainly on appointments, but anyone is welcome to pop in and chat — just be prepared to leave with plenty of inspiration.
