Positioned right next to neighbourhood favourite Margot, Next Door makes up one half of Newtown’s coolest food-and-drink duo.
Like Margot, Next Door is helmed by Wellington hospitality veterans Tom Adam and Juno Miers, who bring with them bucket loads of experience in the local scene. An ex-phone shop, Next Door is a place where the drinks do the talking while the bar snacks listen.
Seating 16 people, Next Door is wee. However, what it lacks in size, it makes up for in delicious drinks, tasty snacks, and really great music. With a great selection of natural wines and an extensive range of beers and sodas, there’s something for everyone. However, it’s Next Door’s cocktails that definitely take centre stage – the crew are constantly busy whipping up daring concoctions for their ever-evolving list, so if you’re in for a night to remember, just ask them to surprise you.
Not to mention the creative desserts on display too (condensed milk and tea ice cream with spicy chilli crisp, anyone?). Next Door isn’t just a bar – it’s a must-do on any culinary trip to Newtown.
