Fashion really does meet function at Outdoors Society on Mount Eden Road. Launched in 2025 as an evolution of the founders’ hemp clothing brand Goodlids, this conceptual outdoors store sits somewhere between retail shop, cafe and community hub - designed to help people connect with the natural world and each other.

Stroll on by and you’ll find a beautifully curated but approachable space with natural light pouring in, vinyl spinning throughout the day and customers perched on the bench out front with a fresh Allpress coffee in hand. It’s not wall-to-wall technical gear here, either: the shelves mix practical outdoor kit with the fun stuff. Think nifty, design-forward camping trinkets and old-school National Geographics alongside racks of slick, versatile clothing pieces you could wear to work, then easily keep on for weekend plans or heading straight out into the bush.

These guys host a bunch of community events each month, too. From bouldering meet-ups and local hikes to community bike rides, camping and even the occasional kayaking trip, the handwritten events calendar sits pride of place right behind the counter on a big roll of butcher paper, perfect for seasoned regulars or anyone looking to get out and try something new with a like-minded crew.

In the afternoon, customers can grab a beer from the fridge, take a seat in the sun and stay for a while. Have a yarn with the team or whoever else has wandered in. They say the whole point of this place is to make the outdoors feel more accessible, and they do just that by keeping the door wide open to everyone.
