Thanks to its suburban Sandringham location, Tianze Dumpling House may feel like something of a secret. But for those in the know, it’s a restaurant more than worthy of its strong and loyal following. The family owned and operated Chinese restaurant serves authentic Northern Chinese cuisine, along with a number of much loved Sichuan dishes, in a casual and welcoming setting, fronted by its bright red exterior.

As people are introduced to the traditional flavours and deliciousness of Northern Chinese and Sichuan food, owner and head chef Levi takes particular pride in ensuring fresh and top quality ingredients for his valued customers. Having worked in the industry since the ripe old age of 18, his 15 plus years of experience ensure customers receive the best possible dining experience when they visit Tianze.

Given its name, it is only logical that dumplings are a mainstay on the menu at Tianze. For good reason, the prawn, pork and chive dumplings are currently featured on the list of Auckland’s Top 100 Iconic Eats, and the fried cabbage, black fungus and tofu dumplings seem to be especially enjoyed by our vegan friends. Many of the dishes can be made vegetarian or vegan on request, including both the popular mapo tofu and green bean dishes.

Other signature dishes include Northern China’s most well known dish: double-cooked pork in sweet and sour sauce, and the best selling dish at Tianze across the last 10 years: crispy fried chicken in hot chili - both of which will have you coming back for more.

Tianze Dumpling House is licensed and also welcomes BYO. Offering a unique, laidback dining experience in Auckland, their vision is to become the go-to destination for those seeking traditional and tasty Chinese food. Friday night plans, anyone?
