Those with a penchant for French finery won’t want to miss a decadent trip to Vaniyé Pâtisserie. This award-winning patisserie is the passion project of husband-and-wife team, Sonia and Laurent Haumonté.

Sonia found her passion for French cuisine when she lived in Paris. At first, she studied an MBA and worked but then made the switch from corporate to culinary, ultimately landing at Le Cordon Bleu and other top restaurants. She treats her work at Vaniyé Pâtisserie as a true craft, which is very apt for Parnell, Auckland’s most creative suburb.

You'll be dazzled by the colourful, eye-catching selection of treats as soon as you step inside Sonia’s shop. The cabinet is loaded up fresh every morning with a bounty of sweet and savoury bites. We’re talking buttery, flaky croissants and light lunch snacks like filled baguettes or seasonal savoury tarts.

The pâtisserie also specialises in mouth-watering cakes for your next celebration. But be warned, these are not ordinary cakes. The French-style masterpieces combine luxurious seasonal flavours with layers of mousse, sponge, coulis and a nutty crunch to create something truly irresistible. Whether it’s a big birthday bash or even a wedding, if you’re after cake to impress, you’ll find it here.

For those wanting to get under the hood and learn a bit more about the art of French desserts, Sonia also runs the occasional masterclass. Say goodbye to basic muffins, this hands-on workshop will have you crafting beautiful mille-feuille in no time. Plus, you’ll get to devour the fruits of your labour—count is in.

Keen for a trip to Paris, minus the expensive plane ticket? Add Vaniyé Pâtisserie to your weekend agenda.
