Tucked between Alexandra and Clyde on Dunstan Road, just across the road from Orchard Garden, Gone Potty brings a burst of creativity to this peaceful pocket of Central Otago. Housed in a sleek black building, the shop may appear understated from the outside, but step through the door and you’re met with a riot of joyful colour and charm.
This is the studio of Bridget Paape, a much-loved local artist known for her bright, tongue-in-cheek paintings designed to lift any mood. After nearly a decade operating from her pottery studio in Dunedin, Bridget relocated Gone Potty to Clyde in the spring of 2024.
Much of the work on display is Bridget’s own, playful watercolours and painted ceramic pieces that often depict scenes of life in Central Otago or Dunedin: couples biking along local trails, friends sharing wine, or familiar street corners captured with warmth and humour. Her pieces are packed with personality, optimism and an appreciation for the small, beautiful things in life.
Alongside her own pieces, Bridget curates a fun selection from other local artists and makers, including paintings, floral and fruity ceramics, statement jewellery, and much more. She also offers take-home ceramic painting kits, encouraging people to tap into their creative side.
Whether you're browsing for a unique gift, looking to brighten your walls, or simply in need of a feel-good moment, Gone Potty is well worth a visit. It’s a true reflection of Bridget’s bright energy and a one-of-a-kind creative haven in this scenic part of the world.
