Nestled inside inner city luxury hotel The George, 50 Bistro is an elegant restaurant with an effortlessly charming atmosphere. Serving quality fare from dawn til dusk, the kitchen and front-of-house team here work hard to ensure a pleasurable experience at any time of the day.

Don’t shy away if you are not intending to stay at the hotel, non-guests are welcomed to 50 Bistro with open arms. Why not take advantage of what the hotel has to offer with high tea, lunch or dinner with a group of friends?

The menu here is very much influenced by the seasons and uses local produce as much as possible. Ideally, executive chef Ryan McKenzie sources his products for the kitchen from within a fifty-kilometre radius - not only as a point of difference but to support small local suppliers of quality produce.

With nine years of Beef and Lamb Excellence winnings under the belt, it goes without saying that these are the signature dishes here. Try the Lumina lamb rump served with chickpea & couscous tagine, harissa and mint yoghurt, baked almonds and apricots; or the frutti di mare with green lip mussels, prawns, squid, arrabbiata sauce and lemon pangrattato, linguine. Be wowed. Take a seat out in the generous conservatory complete with a living wall, or sit along the large windows overlooking the ever-changing beauty of Hagley Park. This is the best spot in town for a pre-theatre meal, at the bistro’s Dining at Dusk.

Whether you’re coming in for a business lunch, a get-together with friends or an outing with Grandma, expect a friendly welcome followed by attentive service and good quality, consistent food within a sophisticated atmosphere.
