Not just for sweaty, lycra-wearing racers, bike riding has just got a whole lot easier thanks to folks at Action Bicycle Club. More about getting from A to B than winning the next race at the velodrome, Charlotte and Ken will ensure you’ve got all the coolest gear to be turning heads next time you pedal out the door.
A combination of years of industry experience and graphic design means the duo has successfully created a space both effective and attractive. The shop feels clean, light and airy, a far cry from the greasy glum bike shops of days gone by, and as well has plenty of space to test ride a rental or recently repaired bicycle.
The shop also sells anything to do with keeping your two-wheeled steed in great working order – bike parts, bells, seat covers, oils, repair kits - while a comfy couch setup encourages you to take your time and perhaps rest awhile after a hard days ride, or watch the experts at work in their corner workshop.
An array of bikes for hire stack the rear wall, and can be leased out anywhere from five hours to 48 hours plus, with the aim to get more everyday people on wheels. For sale also are three different designs of the bike in six different vintage colours, carefully created by the shop owners themselves, while electric and cargo bikes, folding helmets and handmade bike parts from Copenhagen are all on offer too.
Everyday apparel with an urban cycling flair made by a friend in London has reflective detailing, ensuring you look cool on the road whilst simultaneously warning other bigger drivers of your presence. Specialist bags can be clipped onto front handlebars and then swung over your shoulder once at your destination - no need for backpacks or squashed lunches. The carefully curated clothing and accessories mean you can hop straight from the morning commute into the office, without worrying about offending anyone over too-tight pants and sweaty backs.
