If you believe going to the cinema should be about the full experience, look no further. In the heart of the downtown, Luxe Cinemas Tauranga is a boutique cinema offering a wide range of carefully chosen films in a cosy and elevated setting.
Luxe was established in 2023, when the Taylor family took over the existing Tauranga and Papamoa cinemas, refurbishing them and rebranding while they were at it. With no prior experience in the cinema industry, it’s been something of a steep learning curve, but it’s also been an incredibly fun family journey.
Luxe Cinemas intend to provide a more upmarket and luxurious atmosphere than your typical cinema, but that’s not the only point of difference. The collection of films screened stray away from showing just the blockbusters; there is a definite focus on including more artsy and alternative films, such as documentaries, operas, Indie films and ballets.
And of course, the cinema experience would not be complete without snacks. Luxe Cinema is always keen to make sure they do their bit to support other local businesses. Excelso coffee is roasted just down the road, their tap beers are from Fitzpatrick’s Brewing Co. out in Pyes Pa and naturally, we won’t forget Tauranga's beloved (and iconic) Mills Reef wine.
As Tauranga locals, Luxe Cinemas carries a lot of passion for the area, in particular the revitalisation of the CBD. They appreciate the potential of the CBD, and hope with more businesses like theirs, residents will have a reason to spend even more time in the downtown.
