Radiating good vibes and fun is Tauranga’s DOCA, a European influenced cafe by day, dipping its toes into pizza and cocktails come Friday and Saturday nights.

Back in the day, DOCA was known by many as the Dry Dock cafe. Remaining in the family but rebranding in 2021, DOCA has grown and evolved its offering to cater to a wider audience. Nowadays, DOCA is still a vibrant and popular cafe, but come Friday and Saturday nights, it transforms itself into a lively pizza and cocktail bar.

Playing on their European roots, the pizza is created Italian style. With bases made from sourdough, the menu offers an assortment of traditional and innovative flavours, including options for both our vegan and vegetarian friends.

By day, the coffee is well made and the brunch and lunch menus are easy to order from. Choosing just one thing can be a challenging task, but the French toast is always a popular option (and sure to get a ‘WOW’ from the table) as is the big breakfast plate, of which there are standard, vegetarian and vegan options available.

DOCA’s interior is funky, full of character and friendly smiles. An adjoining room offers a peaceful respite from the activity outside, and with inspiring foliage and plenty of seating it is easy to stay a while. The team’s goal is for customers to leave with their day being better for having visited, ideally with happy bellies too.

And if you’re looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion, DOCA offers ‘bottomless’ lunches and dinners on Fridays and Saturdays. Perfect for get-togethers or big groups, it’s an easy way to create a lot of fun!
