Oh My Goodness Speciality Breads

Oh My Goodness is one of those places where you walk through the front doors and instantly sense the care and attention that has gone into creating the business. Part of the Tribune precinct in the centre of Hastings, not only is this a café, but it is also a bakery and milling site. 

OMGoodness Bread was first developed over 15 years ago, with the goal of being gluten-free but also providing high nutritional value, a great texture no matter the bread's use (sandwich, toast or otherwise), and to appeal to a child’s taste as well. Over the years, they have become renowned around town for their specialty loaves and pre-mixes (to make the bread yourself, at home). 

In November 2021, they moved into their current home in Tribune, and in April 2022, the Goodness café was opened. The fit-out of the space was a labour of love and a real team effort by the staff of Oh My Goodness. Owner Scott embraced his former life as a tiler and painstakingly laid the emerald green tiles adorning the front counter and barista area. Other touches around the café are hand-crafted and re-purposed items, such as the timber wall behind the counter, which was the floor in the original building. There’s a sky-blue designated kids’ table complete with colouring-in to keep the wee ones entertained while you enjoy a bite to eat and a drink. 

When it comes to dining at Oh My Goodness, you are guaranteed to feel nourished after eating here. The food is gluten-free and predominantly vegan, and they have a cabinet of goodies that includes rainbow sammies, toasties and desserts. Or you can order pizza by the slice, fresh from the oven out the back. Housemade kombucha is on offer, alongside a range of teas and top-notch coffee using beans from local Hawke's Bay roaster Thirdeye. 

Things aren’t slowing down at Oh My Goodness anytime soon. With plans to extend into the atrium space next door, they are also available to cater and host events. These guys have vision, so don’t miss out on enjoying it!
