Situated next door to Hastings’ Tribune precinct, you’ll find the factory, on-site retail store and headquarters of Real World, a New Zealand-made product range elevating the essential rituals in our homes.

With a focus on using only the most necessary and nourishing plant-based ingredients in its products, you can rest assured that everything Real World is good for you and also for the planet we inhabit. Founders and owners Adam and Nicola created the business in 2016 after they both noticed they were dealing with sore, dry hands from everyday life and that the products they were using in their home were a contributing factor. Deciding to do something about it, Real World was born.

All the products are made in small batches in the on-site factory, in four product groupings; Restore, Repair, Revive and Rest, which all have two different scents. Each scent is matched with a key New Zealand extract, acting as the starting point for the nourishment and ‘good-for-you’ factor.  There is a multitude of different products within the groups, from body wash and lotion, candles and room spray, to dishwashing liquid and even pet wash.

Fragrance envelops you as you walk up to the front door, and when you enter, you are greeted with a harmonious blend of smells. It truly is a tactile experience shopping at Real World as you browse the shelves, sample the balms, creams and lotions, sniff the candles and get a sneak peek into the back room where all the making magic happens. The simplicity of the space with the black and brass detailing and the nods to nature with well-loved plant life completes the A+ shopping experience. There’s even a refillery where you can bring in your empty bottles to top up with your favourite products, another acknowledgement of sustainability being at the heart of this brand.

So whether you are looking to make a planet-positive change in your every day, searching for a special gift or wanting to do something good for yourself, head to Real World.
