Kaikōura Seafood BBQ

Kaikōura Seafood BBQ on Fyffe Quay, en route to the Kaikōura Peninsula seal colony, is one the most affordable places in town for getting your hands on world-famous crayfish.

Crays are available to buy and take away to cook at home, or you can choose one to be enjoyed right here. The menu is extensive and includes a whole bunch of other kaimoana as well, most served with rice, salad and some garlic bread.

Kaikōura Seafood BBQ is a family run business that first opened up as just that, a simple barbeque. Over the years the operation has grown and now occupies the caravan kiosk, which can be found right by the beach seven days a week. The entire caravan runs off solar power and most of the cooking is done around the corner in a commercial kitchen.

This is truly an authentic Kaikōura experience. The sea is right behind the caravan and cows roam the paddocks across the road. Sit at one of the tables or walk closer to the ocean and park up on the rocky shore – just watch out for those hungry seagulls!
