Ask around Kaikōura where people go for their coffee, and the answer more often than not directs you towards Beach House Café.

A true local’s favourite, this café is known for its relaxed atmosphere and friendly service, along with some of the best views of the Kaikōura ranges from its back balcony. Out front you’ll find a number of outdoor seating spots, but centre stage sits a huge communal table often dotted with locals catching up.

Housed in a repurposed black and white Kaikōura cottage circa 1920s, Beach House Café brews consistent cuppas with Supreme beans. The cabinet is filled with easy to grab-and-go treats (such as the all-time favourite Keto Hundreds & Thousands slice) and savoury snacks that cater for all dietary needs. The menu boasts a number of all day breakfast and lunch options and all the food is prepared in-house. The Beach House Café crew try to keep things as local and environmentally friendly as possible.

It’s easy to drop in on your way north, and if you happen to be passing through town with a bag of dirty laundry, the cute-as-heck Little Laundromat next door will come in handy. Open seven days a week, Beach House Café is here to look after your caffeine and refuelling needs from early morning till late
