Montfoort has a simple yet exciting mission: to showcase the very best of sweet Dutch street food. The cute caravan this family-owned business calls home can be found at its pop-up in Paraparaumu on Fridays and Saturdays and at the Harbourside Market in Wellington every Sunday.

At Montfoort, you’ll satisfy that craving for the perfect poffertjes, tiny Dutch pancakes that are just the right mix of sweet, salty and puffy and which come topped with your choice of sauce, such as fresh lemon curd or salted caramel. Or perhaps you’re yet to try fresh stroopwafels. Well, you’re in for a treat as the good people here whip them up just like that. During the colder months, dig your teeth into made-to-order oliebollen, Dutch doughnuts filled with cinnamon, spiced apple and raisins, and served piping hot and sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon.

All the treats served at Montfoort are made from scratch by owner-operators Eloise and Andrew using fresh ingredients. The couple create all the goodness using traditional methods, including all the toppings. The Montfoort caravan can be hired for private events, and packets of the traditional stroopwafels can also be picked up online or at selected cafes or retailers across the motu.
