Sometimes straight up and no-frills is the order of the day. If you find yourself in New Plymouth and that’s what you’re craving, make a b-line to Ms White in New Plymouth’s West End precinct.

The open-air pizza joint slash lo-fi craft beer bar does exactly what it says on the tin; great pizza and great beer. You’ll discover a simplistic menu of four pizza toppings that can be served on a base of either rosse (tomato and mozzarella) or blanco (olive oil and mozzeralla). Partnering the pizzas is an ever-changing and extensive line-up of craft beers, a selection that handsomely represents the many breweries across Aotearoa. Once you’ve locked your order in, you can sit back, watch them spin their doughy discs and await delivery of your goods.

Ms White forms part of the outdoor courtyard at the West End precinct that is a bustling hive of activity. With people flowing in and out to visit the bakery, wine bar and Asian fusion inspired eatery, Snug Lounge, there’s plenty to look at. The space is bright and airy with giant planters suspended above you. On the wooden tables, repurposed cans of Italian tomatoes are stuffed with cutlery and napkins, and keep a keen eye out for the chilli oil, too. It’s deliciously spicy, and we’d recommend dousing the whole pizza in it if you like the kick.

Fun, laidback and unpretentious, Ms Whites is doing an absolute solid job pumping out classic pizza pies and beers. It’s hard to name a better combo.
