Palmerston North's Coffee on Ascot is a warm and welcoming neighbourhood café offering organic, fair-trade coffee and home baked snacks, raw slices and healthy treats. It’s a casual spot, allowing locals to wander in with their prams and kids without the fuss of going all the way into town.
Although the food could easily steal the show, make sure you take the opportunity to soak up the friendly vibe of the café. From the large communal tables to the baristas sitting and chatting with customers (whenever time permits), Coffee on Ascot actively promotes connection and camaraderie with those around you in an easy and natural way - something people often don’t take enough time for, and of considerable value for our collective mental health.
Sustainable and eco-friendly practices are implemented wherever possible. Each week the freshly roasted coffee is delivered in refillable tins to minimise plastic waste. All takeaway packaging is compostable, and the cold drinks sold have been carefully selected to come only from other environmentally conscious New Zealand companies. Similar care has gone into the selection of the shop’s retail products: the team only pairs with local businesses that sell quality products and share their sustainability ethos.
The superfood lattes have a loyal following: beyond the classic turmeric latte, try also the velvet latte or the ‘shroom latte. Using only locally roasted beans and other high quality ingredients (another value of theirs), Coffee on Ascot specialises in allergy friendly slices and sweet treats, so those with dietary requirements can also get in on the fun.
If you’re looking for something a little extra with your morning caffeine fix in Palmerston North, and want to do so with a happy conscience, look no further than Coffee on Ascot.
