Rangituhi Colonial Knob
Kenepuru, Porirua
If you feel like working up a sweat, and gyms have never been your thing, then set your sights on a big old stroll up Rangituhi (aka Colonial Knob) instead. The summit sits at 468m, so anyone moving their body all the way up here can be proud of the impressive feat, and with clear days allowing views from the Inland Kaikoura Range to the south round to Mt Taranaki in the north, it’s not just fitness that’s the incentive here.
There are three routes up to Rangituhi/Colonial Knob, with the loop walk taking from three to five hours, while keen mountain bikers come this way too to swerve their way back down the specialty tracks. Grab your backpack, water bottle and sneakers, and head on up for some exercise, nature style.
