The cheerful, upcycled decor and friendly staff will welcome you with open arms at Invercargill's Mexican food establishment, and a margarita won’t be far behind.
The team at Amigo's proudly employs based on personality over experience, believing that they can teach anyone with the right attitude how to give great service. The light-hearted vibe permeates the moment you walk through the door.
The fit out is one of the first things you’ll notice upon entering, with colourful ceiling tiles and quirky lighting adorning the space. Sustainability is of the utmost importance to the owners--nearly everything used in the design has been repurposed and reused, giving the materials you see a new lease on life. The staff takes all food scraps to farmers, and one member of the team is even currently repurposing all of the plastic containers to build a greenhouse!
When it comes to food, Amigo's knows how to make customers happy. This buzzy spot is full of smiling faces on just about any night of the week, especially Taco Tuesday, when you can nosh on flavourful soft tacos that feature inventive flavours like Calmar y Papas (fried squid, garlic potato and pickled carrot) or classics like Carne Asada (charred ribeye, salsa verde, fried onion).
Of course, wandering in for a Friday night of cocktails and a plate of nachos is always a good idea, and the drink menu can keep anyone satisfied. Try the Espresso Martini (featuring Espresso tequila, white cacao, Absolut Vanilia, Frangelico, and espresso) if you’re looking for a fun departure from our go-to Frozen Margarita, which we certainly recommend as well.
