Small Prophet & Co. Design House is a unique spot in Tokanui for anything that fits under the ‘styling’ umbrella. Three friends - Sheila the designer, Anne the upholsterer and Sarah the artist - set up shop to offer the region, and the country, full service styling. Together they form a jack-of-all-trades crew who design and bring to life quirky one off pieces, event concepts, refurbished furniture, hotel interiors and home interiors.

Their workshop and storefront, located in an old seed store, is a menagerie of tools, fabrics and patterns. The storefront is bright, full of natural light and lined with jewellery, handmade wares, paintings, photographs, throws, knits and other beautiful objects for the home and soul.

The trio can often be found in the studio bringing antique furniture back to life with fresh fabrics and expert upholstering, or mocking up design boards for their next large scale interior styling project. The three women have a buzzy energy and play off of one another’s creativity to constantly hone their skills and push the boundaries of their styling work.

Small Prophet & Co. is the place to get grandad’s chair reupholstered, to find a unique souvenir from your travels, to redesign your home or bach or to find a knowledgeable event stylist. The team truly does it all, and with great success. Everything the team does here is linked by one thing, a pencil-behind-the-ear ‘we can fix it ourselves’ kind of attitude that results in stellar finished work, creative problem solving and a downright fun environment. Even if you’re not in the market for styling work, come meet three self proclaimed ‘wacky’ locals, sip on a cup of barista made coffee (yep, they’re also baristas) and explore Small Prophet & Co.’s down to earth, subtly stunning work.
