Housed in Wellington’s heritage-listed Mibar building, Jhana Millers Gallery is both a celebration of emerging art talent in Aotearoa and a quiet oasis from the noise of the city. It’s where the outside world takes a step back and contemporary art takes the spotlight. The space carries an airy calm, a perfect environment for art appreciation: think polished concrete floors, lofty ceilings, and a wall of windows that let natural light pour into the room.
Thanks to a regular exhibition programme, changing every four weeks, the gallery always offers something new to see. Showcasing a diverse mix of artists: from painters, photographers, and sculptors to jewellers, textile artists, and ceramicists, the work on display is often materially rich. The art is bold, characterful, and unafraid to dig into big ideas, whether through politically charged pieces, richly detailed canvases, or works with a mystical or symbolic quality. Many of the artists represented are in the early stages of their careers, and the gallery is deeply committed to supporting them, fostering conversations, community, and long-term relationships.
Jhana Millers Gallery isn’t just a space for viewing art; it’s a platform that actively contributes to Wellington’s creative scene while connecting artists with collectors, curators, art fairs, and the wider public. There is a generosity in its approach, a belief in contemporary art’s ability to be both challenging and inviting. Step inside and you’ll find a space that feels current, concept-driven, and very much alive to the world around it.
