Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Lambton Quay and the rush of Cuba Street, Apachè bridges the gap with rustic charm equally matched with touches of elegance. Industrial light fixtures and dark timbers are offset by lighter details; delicate vintage teaspoons and mosaic-like heritage flooring. Fusion is Apachè’s forte after all: the tagline ‘When Hanoi met Paris’ referencing Chef Le’s French approach to Vietnamese street food.
Balancing the five key flavours — spicy, sour, bitter, salty, and sweet — Apachè takes a modern approach to Vietnamese hawker food. The resulting dishes are complex but approachable. It’s a gourmet point of view on casual street fare; the kind of menu that’s made to be shared between diners. No need to settle on one thing, bring the spirit of the Hanoi market to your table and sample a bit of everything between friends.
With a variety of main dishes, delectable entrées and refreshing salads, you’ll be more than spoiled for choice. Whatever the meal, you can be sure that it’s made with the freshest ingredients, including free-range meat and eggs. This attention to detail is carried through to the drinks menu, each glass matched perfectly to one of the restaurant’s dishes. There’s plenty of local talent represented, including Garage Project’s Death From Above — a match made in heaven with the 5 spice fried chicken bao bun.
Open both evenings and days, Apachè is a perfect spot for dinner, or for a well deserved and leisurely lunch. Come for the sophisticated Vietnamese street food, stay for a cheeky glass of rosé.
