Entering the flagship Havana Coffee Works on Tory Street is like stepping onto a movie set. The beautiful Art Deco building features a colour palette befitting the Cuban aesthetic, with a completely bespoke fit out that truly takes more than a fleeting moment to soak in. Part roastery, part coffee lounge, the site also operates as Havana’s headquarters and dispatch centre. It’s a bustling spot, with staff and customers greeting each other like old friends and roaring trade happening over the counter for beans and espresso.

Catering to the nation’s caffeine addiction, Havana Coffee provides more than sixteen origins and blends to suit a range of tastes, all roasted right here on site. The beautiful Loring S70 roaster can produce batches of up to 70kg at a time with unbeatable consistency and punchy flavours, something Havana has become well known for and embraced in their iconic COFFEEUFEEL mantra.

The cozy, retro coffee lounge adjacent to the main space is a relaxing sun-filled area packed with plush couches and winged armchairs. Vintage 1950’s ‘Wall-o-Matic’ jukeboxes adorn the walls and the whole vibe gives retail, wholesale and cafe customers an epic experience. It’s a wonderful atmosphere, sitting with a view of the roastery, beautifully laid back and oozing charm.

In addition to the usual espresso offering they’ve got bottomless filter and new nitro cold brew on tap. It’s a unique experience akin to that of the Willy Wonka factory but for coffee, even the vehicle fleet bears plates like ‘CHEMEX’, ‘CUBAN’ and ‘XPRESO’.

There is also a retail showroom upstairs and full-service training room and cupping station, plus their own live coffee trees soaking up the natural light. With tunes like The Beatles’ Blackbird resounding throughout the premises it all makes for something unlike any other coffee experience—and a very pleasing one. Centrally located and with free off-street parking, getting there is easy. It’s leaving that’s the hard part.
