A flagship store very much in line with their company ethos, Kowtow on College Street makes for a beautifully simplistic and soothing shopping experience. From their wooden interior made from sustainably grown eucalyptus, to the floor rugs at your feet (they’re made from recycled fishing nets pulled from the ocean), this special brand has real kindness to the planet at its core. Spacious changing rooms and soft lighting add to the restful ‘take your time’ atmosphere here, and styley staff are on hand to help without being pushy. A big squishy grey couch is available for those waiting on indecisive shoppers, and massive street side windows make for a beautifully sunny spot, not to mention some curious glances from passersbys.
A New Zealand favourite label thanks to the increasing concerns from consumers about where their goods are coming from, means Kowtow has really struck a chord with sustainable and ethically-concerned shoppers. From their organic cotton down to their buttons made from nuts and shells, Kowtow ensures every part of its manufacturing process is strictly aligned with their values. Muted shades with the odd hit of colour and bright pattern make for design that is easy to wear and much-loved as wardrobe staples by fans.
Reassuring to see a brand so transparent in its process and so unshakeable in its stance on kind fashion, Kowtow inspires shoppers to think a little more before handing over their credit card.
